PTFE / technical overview

Teflon semi-finished stock

PTFE stock is the starting material for machined technical parts. Shape and size selection depend on the finished part and operating conditions.

Confirmed range: rods

The verified Mateos Teflon stock category contains rods, for example in diameters of 10, 12, 15, 20, 22, 25, 30, 40, 50 and 60 mm. Length is a separate product variant: rod 324 at 10 mm diameter is also offered in a 500 mm length. We do not list sheets or tubes here as a confirmed supplied range. Check available sizes for the particular rod in the online shop.

From stock to a finished part

When enquiring, distinguish rod dimensions from finished component dimensions. Send a drawing, tolerances, quantity and machining allowance requirements. For a sliding or sealing element, specify loading, contacting medium and temperature. The trade name Teflon alone does not determine whether the PTFE is pure or filled.

Material specification before production

The reviewed data sheet for rod 324 does not specify a numerical coefficient of friction, chemical compatibility or dielectric strength. Have these properties confirmed for the supplied rod, particularly for an insulator or chemical contact. Reinforced sheet or conveyor belt specifications are not the specifications of machining stock.

Benefits and selection

  • Rods for subsequent machining
  • Selection by required diameter or thickness
  • Requirements can be prepared for a part to a drawing

Technical specifications to check

Specific values vary by product and variant. When choosing, compare:

  • stock form and material
  • diameter, thickness and length
  • tolerance and machining method
  • medium contact and working temperature

Applications

Stock is machined into sliding, sealing and other technical elements. The specific material is chosen according to environment and loading.
