Resistance ribbons

Flat, shaped or PTFE-coated ribbon

Mateos lists flat, shaped and PTFE-coated versions for resistance applications, including impulse film sealing. Choose the version according to the working surface and original part. The PTFE coating is a surface treatment of a resistance element; it is not a non-conductive PTFE tape for covering a machine.

Examples with confirmed electrical resistance

Flat ribbon 184 with a 1 × 0.1 mm cross-section has a stated resistance of 13.5 Ω/m. PTFE-coated ribbon 212 with a 2 × 0.2 mm cross-section has 3.67 Ω/m. OMEGA product 202 is named 3 × 0.3 mm, but its width parameter states 2.9 mm; resistance is 1.63 Ω/m. For an exact replacement of this shape, confirm the width rather than rounding away the difference without checking.

Requirements for sealing equipment

Specify the cross-section, working length, end shape, power supply and required surface finish. For a faulty seal, describe the film material and operating cycle. Neither maximum temperature nor alloy material can be taken from the Kanthal wire table; these values are not listed for the ribbons reviewed. Resistance per metre belongs to the exact product and is not interchangeable across cross-sections.
